The road has dried out and is in fairly good shape, though there are some areas of washboard. Most of the trout are averaging 12 to 14 inches while the bass are averaging less than 10 inches. The lake is about 60% of capacity and the boat ramp is usable. The water is clearing here and the water quality is good. Trout were being caught from the boat ramp through the campground. Fly rodders are having luck with olive buggers and leech patterns as well as mayfly nymph and emerger patterns in the afternoons. PowerBait and worms are also working along the western shoreline for trout. Like the other high desert reservoirs in Elko County, chironomids will start playing a larger role in the trout’s diet over the next month.
