Hatchery winter steelhead are available throughout the North Fork Nehalem. The river was high and off color as of Tuesday 1/5/21, but should be dropping into good condition late this week and through the weekend.
The mainstem Nehalem is currently blown out, and stays muddy much longer than other systems on the North coast; it may not get into good condition this week. Also, there are no hatchery releases into the mainstem, but there should be wild steelhead (catch-and-release only) starting to show up when the flows do drop.
