EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Ice that has covered the reservoir is melting. For the time being, anglers will have to get their bait offerings past the thin ice along the shore to reach deeper water near the thick ice. Campgrounds and other park facilities are open. Nighttime temperatures are still around freezing. Call Spring Valley State Park for the most current conditions.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

 Most days are sunny, with intermittent clouds and rain. Trout fishing has been good. A few anglers have found success with night crawlers or PowerBait. Fly-fishing is good, but anglers may contend with afternoon winds. Call Echo Canyon State Park for the most current conditions.

LAKE MEAD

Black bass anglers are using shad swimbaits and soft plastics to target fish near Callville Bay and Echo Bay. Crappie anglers are trying their luck with pearl and chartreuse crappie jigs in the Overton Arm. In the Las Vegas Bay area, stripers between 1 and 3 pounds are taking shad swimbaits and anchovies thrown from shore. Larger fish are cruising in about 50 feet of water throughout the Boulder Basin. Anchovies, shrimp, and marshmallows are working well for catfish in the evening hours. Fishing is expected to pick up with air temperatures peaking in the 70’s this weekend.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Willow Beach boaters are catching stripers as large as 10-pounds. The bite is hit and miss, but persistent anglers are having the most success with swimbaits in the early morning. Rainbow trout anglers are catching fish when using plastic tubes and PowerBait. Further south, black bass are showing signs of pre-spawning activity. The fish are active near shelves in coves concentrated near Cottonwood Basin and Davis Dam. A variety of crankbaits, swimbaits, and soft plastics are taking hits

LAUGHLIN

Shore anglers are catching rainbow trout using spinners. Power Eggs, floating mice tails and worms are also landing nice catches. Striped bass in the 1- to 3-pound range are cruising through Casino Row. Anglers are anticipating an increase in smallmouth bass activity near Laughlin Lagoon as daytime temperatures warm.

The shoreline is open and acceptable at all reservoirs. Anglers will find thin ice along the edges on most mornings, but it will melt off quickly after the sunrise. Rainbow trout are in the 15- to 20-inch range. Be prepared for weather changes and use caution in the area. Upper ends of reservoirs will be closed due to waterfowl nesting.

URBAN PONDS

NDOW has stocked rainbow trout in Beatty Pond as well as the ponds at Hafen, Floyd Lamb, Lorenzi, Sunset, and Veterans Memorial parks. Trout are biting meal worms, marshmallows, and various PowerBait offerings. Night crawlers have caught the attention of a few catfish and bluegill. As the days warm up, the bluegill and bass bite will begin to pick up too. Urban pond fish limits are three total fish. Unwanted fishing line should be disposed of in the provided recycle bins or trash receptacles.
