LAKE MEAD
Triple digit temperatures have arrived which means most anglers are fishing between dusk and dawn. Striped bass in the 2-3-pound range are taking a variety of lures and live bait. Crankbaits and jigs are tempting largemouth bass in the coves of Boulder Basin. Bluegill and catfish action is best throughout the Las Vegas Bay for shore anglers. Corn and anchovies are working well for catfish. Bluegill are biting night crawlers under bobbers.

Striped bass are cruising the deeper water waiting for the perfectly presented swimbait in the early morning hours. On Lake Mohave, black bass are keeping boaters busy. Soft plastics, like chigger craws and spider jigs, are landing small fish in the 3-5 pound range.

Rainbow trout are reportedly hanging tight in pools south of Big Bend State Recreation Area. Spinners, tube jigs, and night crawlers have resulted in success. .
Barbless hooks are helping anglers as weeds thicken across the ponds. Haymeadow and Cold Springs Reservoirs have been good for crappie with anglers using small jigs and night crawlers. Bass are active and hitting on jigs and tubes. The other ponds are good fly fishing for trout early in the day and towards evening as they hit the surface for bugs.
