If you fish the popular lakes of the Columbia Basin Wildlife Area in Grant and Adams counties, the gates to Quincy Lake, Martha Lake, and Caliche Lakes will be open for the Mar. 1 opener, but a little later than hoped. Due to road conditions, gates will be opened after 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, the evening before the opener. If you go, plan for all conditions as lakes will likely still be iced over.
