Fishing slowed on the Nestucca this past week, mostly due to the challenging weather, but there are still plenty of fish in the basin and some being caught. Predicting the river conditions is going to be tough and dependent on how much rain we get and how much snow either falls or melts. If the current forecast are correct, it should jump up a little on Thursday, level out just a little on the high side (but fishable) through the weekend and then start to drop next week.
There are hatchery and wild (catch-and-release only for wilds) steelhead throughout the fishery, and fresh fish still coming in. The hatchery steelhead run on the Nestucca continues until early April. There are several popular drift boat runs on the river and some good bank access on the upper reaches.
