Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Currently flows are around 1,000 cfs at the Waterloo gauge as of July 10 and should stay fairly consistent through the summer. Summer steelhead numbers are poor. About 236 fish have made it to Foster so far.
However, Willamette Falls counts are indicating a good spring Chinook run. So far over 22,300 adults have entered the upper Willamette basin as of July 8, with many of these fish destined for the South Santiam.
Anglers are reminded that only fin-clipped trout may be kept

Foster Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked several times this spring
Santiam River ( North Fork) : Currently running at around 1,320 cfs at the gauge in Meham
