Fall Chinook season opened in the Nestucca Aug. 1, and there are some fish getting caught in the estuary despite it being quite early. Numbers of Chinook in the bay should continue increase throughout the month. It will take a good rain to move fish into the river, until then fishing in the estuary will be the best bet.

Due to below average forecast this season the bag limit for wild Chinook has been reduced. See the Regulation Updates section above for details. ‌

Saturday, Sept. 9 is the opener of the wild coho fishery in the Nestucca estuary, but numbers will probably be low this early in the season. The fishery is open two days a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Sept. 9 to Oct. 18. See the regulation updates section above for bag limits and more details.

Summer steelhead are in the basin, and are present throughout the fishery, but recent resting pool counts confirmed that numbers are low this year and as a result fishing will probably be slow
