The annual "Lake Oroville Open Spring Spectacular" bass tournament will take place tomorrow [Sat. Apr16] at the Spillway Launch. Late signups will be taken at the ramp starting at 3:30 AM, and will continue to blast-off at safe light. Entry fee is $80 per two-person team, with payback to 20 places, and a $1000 first prize based on 100 teams. The slot waiver is in effect, and competitors also get a barbecue dinner.

4-14-2011Last week's Butte County Fish and Game Commission meeting included introduction of Tyson Hulse, the new Gridley-area warden for the Department of Fish and Game. A recent graduate of the DFG's training academy at Butte College, Hulse's responsibilities will include the Oroville Wildlife Area and the Thermalito Afterbay. Local DFG Lt.
