On the American River, salmon fishing will be allowed from Nimbus Dam to the Hazel Avenue bridge, from July 16 through Dec. 31.

The Klamath River will be open for fall-run Chinook salmon from Aug. 15 through Dec. 31, with a daily bag limit of three Chinook salmon, of which no more than two may be more than 22 inches in length. Open to spring-run Chinook salmon fishing from Jan. 1 to Aug. 14, with a daily bag and possession limit of two salmon. The take of salmon is prohibited on the Klamath from Iron Gate Dam downstream to Weitchpec from Jan. 1 to Aug. 14.

The Trinity River will be open to fall-run Chinook salmon fishing from Sep. 1 through Dec. 31, with a daily bag limit of three Chinook salmon, of which no more than two may be more than 22 inches long. Open to spring-run Chinook salmon fishing from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, with a daily bag limit of two salmon. The take of salmon is prohibited from the confluence of the South fork Trinity River downstream to the confluence of the Klamath River from Jan. 1 through Aug. 31.

Both the Klamath and Trinity are operating on annual take quotas, and may close early if those quotas are reached. Both waterways also require anglers to have a Salmon Harvest Card in their possession.

The annual late April crappie explosion at Irvine Lake is going off right on time, reported Jimmy Getty at the Pro Shop. "The crappie bite has busted wide open", gushed Getty. Good news for crappie anglers came from Irvine Lake Pro Team leader Marlon Meade, "Pro Team member Brian Ray and his fishing partner got easy double limits of nice crappie trolling Frenzy crankbaits near Trout Island. Other trout trollers also caught a lot of incidental crappie.
