Dove Season Begins

Yesterday [Thurs. Sep. 1] was the opening day of dove season, with mixed results being reported. "It was about 50/50 with hunters either limiting out, or not doing too well", reported Dave Ebright at Chico Sportsman's Den. "Hunters over on the west side of the valley seemed to be doing better, but overall there were not as many people out as last year."
The first half of the season will run until Sep. 15, with a daily bag limit of 10, and possession limit of 20 mourning or white-wing doves. There is no limit on the invasive non-native Eurasian collared dove, which are about twice as large as mourning doves.
