The Coquille Basin steelhead rivers continue to run fairly low and clear.  Fishing continues to be slow but the anglers that put in some time are finding a few fish to bite. There are new, bright fish moving upstream and most of these fish are holding in deeper pools.

Drift boat anglers reported a tree down across the river on the South Fork Coquille River between the Myrtle Groove driftboat launch and the 7 Mile marker driftboat launch. Drift boats can make it around this tree at higher flows but it may become a problem as the river levels continue to drop.

Trout fishing in streams and rivers will reopen May 22.
