Steelhead anglers' wish for rain on the Smith River came true this week, reported local guide Kevin Brock. The river level came up seven feet in the past 24 hours; and once it crests, it will go down just as fast. This water will definitely bring some new fish into the system. Yesterday, (5) five steelhead were hooked and got three up to nine pounds, Seven were hooked the day before. About 90-percent of the fishes caught were wild and must be released, and about 10-percent are hatchery fish that have a daily limit of one fish.
