Lake Oroville fishery future looks bright

Good news for the future of Lake Oroville's fishing opportunities came from Department of Water Resources biologist Julie Brown. "We purchased 320,000 coho salmon eggs, which are hatched out and in the rearing ponds now.
"We also gathered about 1,500 Christmas trees, and had them bound together as fish habitat structures by the California Conservation Corps. These are the trees that are collected by the Boy Scouts in Chico, and the waste company Recology transports them. The structures were built at Miner's Ranch and Vinton Gulch; we had to pick appropriate sites for placement because the water is so high.
