Anglers are reminded that salmon season continues to be open on both the Sacramento and Feather Rivers. The Feather River is open until Dec. 11, from 1,000 feet below the Thermalito Afterbay Outlet downstream to the mouth of the Feather River.
The Sacramento River will be open until Dec. 11 in the lower zone below the Highway 113 Bridge near Knights Landing. In the middle zone from Knight's Landing up to the lower Red Bluff boat ramp, the season runs through Dec. 18, as does the upper zone that goes from 500 feet above the Red Bluff ramp up to the Deschutes River Bridge.
Angler results have been mixed, but Phil Peeples at The Tackle Box in Chico advised, "If you are lucky enough to be there when a little group of fish moves through, you'll do just fine. Best area on the Sacramento has been up near Los Molinos. Some nice steelhead are also being caught by salmon anglers on both the Feather and Sacramento."
