The North Fork Nehalem has our largest early returning hatchery steelhead release, and we've already seen a few of these fish return to the basin. The North Fork is high and off color currently but may fish by the weekend although it is hard to be certain. Whenever it does drop back into shape there should be some steelhead around. This is one of the best bets for those trying to find a hatchery steelhead this time of year.
The North Fork also gets a run of hatchery coho, and while that run is slowing down there are still some bright hatchery coho available through the end of the month.
