The Illinois River is open to catch-and-release trout and winter steelhead fishing. Check the regulations for more information on the harvest of winter steelhead. Recent reports indicate winter steelhead have been encountered at Briggs Creek but high flow events have kept fishing conditions difficult.
The Illinois is dropping into great shape right now but rain in the forecast will likely blow it out again for the weekend. Best bet is probably next week for this river.
